Infrastructure Australia welcomes the passing of the Infrastructure Australia Amendment (Independent Review) Bill 2023, through the Australian Parliament on Wednesday, 6 December 2023.
The legislation gives effect to the findings of the Independent Review into Infrastructure Australia. IA's functions will be redefined and a new governance structure set up, comprising three expert commissioners to be supported by an advisory council.
Following Royal Assent of the Bill, Infrastructure Australia will turn its attention to implementing the legislative changes. The appointing of Commissioners will take effect following a process initiated and led by the Australian Government.
Infrastructure Australia will continue to actively collaborate and communicate with Australian, state and territory governments and industry about its revised model and what this will mean for them moving forward.
