Australia has a comparative advantage in energy costs and natural energy assets, but there are indications this advantage is slipping. Our energy markets are highly complex and sensitive to change. The sector is undergoing a transformation due to new generation sources and changing user preferences, but this change is occurring without adequate policy coordination, and user dissatisfaction in relation to cost is rising.
