Interim Commissioners appointed to Infrastructure Australia 

The Australian Government has appointed Ms Gabrielle Trainor AO as interim Chief Commissioner and Clare Gardiner-Barnes as interim Commissioner of Infrastructure Australia, bringing into effect the agency’s new governance structure. 

Ms Trainor and Ms Gardiner-Barnes take on the new roles after previously serving as Chair and Director of Infrastructure Australia’s Board, respectively. 

Their appointments bring into effect Infrastructure Australia’s new governance structure, as outlined in amendments made to the Infrastructure Australia Act 2008 in December 2023.  

With the appointment of an interim Chief Commissioner and interim Commissioner, Infrastructure Australia’s former Board has been dissolved.
