Presentation: Pacific Highway Taskforce, Port Macquarie

Publication Date
25 August 2011

This presentation to the Pacific Highway Taskforce by Michael Deegan, National Infrastructure Coordinator of Infrastructure Australia, discusses the Pacific Highway Upgrade and whether tolling is required on the road.

Mr Deegan claims that the cost of completing the road is increasing and that each year there is delay in completing the road the project becomes more expensive. However, given that governments struggle to find funds for major infrastructure projects like these, the solution could lie in tolling. He claims that a debate about tolling the Pacific Highway is warranted because it could bring the completion date forward by years and minimize the overall cost to the community.
