The Pakenham Roads Upgrade package is comprised of the McGregor Road Interchange Upgrade project and the Racecourse Road Upgrade project.  The proposal includes duplication of Racecourse Road and upgrade of the McGregor Road and Racecourse Road freeway interchanges.

It aims to achieve the following benefits for road users and the community:

• improving transport network efficiency
• improving community satisfaction with journeys
• increasing business and employment activities
• improving road safety outcomes

The Australian Government has provided a full funding commitment of $402 million via the Urban Congestion Fund.
