In 2011, Infrastructure Australia positively assessed the Adelaide Rail Freight – Goodwood and Torrens Rail Junctions project as Ready to Proceed, conditional upon four recommendations.

The initiative is nationally significant as it addresses productivity improvement by enabling freight train lengths to increase to 1800m.
