The business case is for the fourth section of upgrades between Cooroy and Curra, an area approximately 200km north of Brisbane. The Bruce Highway between Cooroy and Curra is roughly 60km long, and Section D is approximately 26km in length.

A program initiative for upgrading the Bruce Highway is currently included as a Priority Initiative on the Infrastructure Priority List.

The business case was accepted for Infrastructure Australia's assessment on 25 February 2019.

On 23 August 2019, Infrastructure Australia added the Bruce Highway Cooroy to Curra Section D: Woondum to Curra project to the Infrastructure Priority List as a Priority Project.
