The Deception Bay Road Interchange Upgrade proposes new parallel bridges over the Bruce Highway, upgrading signalised intersections on Deception Bay Road and increasing the length and capacity of existing entry and exit ramps.

A program initiative for upgrading the Bruce Highway is also currently included as a Priority Initiative on the Infrastructure Priority List.

The business case was accepted for Infrastructure Australia's assessment on 20 March 2019.

On 23 August 2019, Infrastructure Australia added the Bruce Highway – Deception Bay Road Interchange Upgrade project to the Infrastructure Priority List as a Priority Project.
