In 2012, Infrastructure Australia moved the Cross River Rail (CRR) project in Brisbane from ‘Threshold’ (June 2011) to ‘Ready to Proceed’ on the Infrastructure Priority List.

The proposal details the delivery of 10 kilometres of twin single track tunnels between Yeerongpilly and Victoria Park, and four new underground stations, as the ‘core’ or first stage of the CRR project. The full program of works seeks to develop an 18 kilometre rail line under the Brisbane CBD.
