On 9 February 2017, the Hobart Science and Technology Precinct submission was rated as a Priority Project by Infrastructure Australia on the Infrastructure Priority List.

The initiative proposes the development of a purpose-built tertiary science, technology, engineering, and mathematics research and training facility in Hobart’s city centre.
