In 2013, Infrastructure Australia recommended that the National Managed Motorways Program: Monash Freeway (High Street to Warrigal Road) be included on the Infrastructure Priority List as ‘Ready to Proceed’.

The project seeks to upgrade the road’s Intelligent Transport System (ITS) from Level 1 to Level 3, providing variable speed limits and lane use managements to mitigate delays and manage incidents.
