In 2016, Infrastructure Australia assessed the Strzelecki Track Upgrade and Sealing initiative as ‘Early Stage’ on the Infrastructure Priority List.

The project would improve 452 kilometres of road between Lyndhurst, Innamincka, and the Queensland Border. The upgrade aims to increase the productivity of the freight task, improve connectivity and facilitate better outcomes for regional communities.
