In March 2015, Infrastructure Australia added the Tasmanian Irrigation Tranche 2 proposal to the Infrastructure Priority List as ‘Real Potential’.

This initiative aims to develop five new irrigation schemes across Tasmania, including the construction of four dams and pipelines, and the construction of an off-river storage and pump. The proposal is part of a broader program entitled ‘Just add water… An Innovation Strategy for Tasmania: Focus on Food Bowl Concept’.
