This report sets out the results of the National Road Asset Reporting Pilot. The pilot aimed to test whether would be possible for Australia's local government areas to collate road asset condition reports for their areas so that national road standards, covering safety, freight efficiency and amenity, can be developed.
Key points
- The pilot involved eight local governments in New South Wales and Queensland, working with Infrastructure Australia.
- Seven of the eight local governments produced condition reports for every road in their jurisdictions. Individual condition reports for those jurisdictions are included as annexes to this report.
- The pilot showed that, with access to accurate condition reports such as these, rigorous business cases can be produced for all road funding proposals.
