The State of Australian Cities series reports on progress against specific indicators of productivity, sustainability and liveability in Australian cities as set out in the National Urban Policy.
This is the third State of Australian Cities report. It presents information on all Australian cities with populations of over 100,000. It analyses current research and data, including data from the 2011 Census, to construct a comprehensive picture of how cities are faring against key indicators as well as changes in urban population and settlement. It also discusses governance in Australia's major cities. It presents key findings on each of the indicators of productivity, sustainability and liveability as well as more detailed discussion on each indicator.
The purpose of the report is to provide an evidence base for policy and investment decisions in major cities, to explore trends in urban development and to inform people about the factors that are shaping cities and communities.
