The State of Australian Cities series reports on progress against specific indicators of productivity, sustainability and liveability as set out in the National Urban Policy.
This is the fourth State of Australian Cities report. It presents information on Australia's 18 largest cities. It analyses current research and data, including newly released data from the 2011 Census, to construct a comprehensive picture of how cities are faring against key indicators as well as changes in urban population and settlement. It also discusses governance in Australia's major cities.
The purpose of the report is to provide an evidence base for policy and investment decisions in major cities, to explore trends in urban development and to inform people about the factors that are shaping cities and communities.
