This assessment brief outlines the Victorian Government's proposal to upgrade the Intelligent Transport System (which manages information, communication and control systems to manage traffic flows) on the Monash Freeway (M1) between Warrigal Road and Clyde Road. The upgrade will improve the operational performance, effective capacity and safety on the Monash Freeway and provide travellers with a high-level, consistent user experience along the freeway by continuing the upgrade from Warrigal Road. The Victorian Government is seeking $137.1 million in Commonwealth funding for the project.
The Office of the Infrastructure Coordinator recommended that the project be included on the 2013 Infrastructure Priority List at Ready to Proceed, with conditions.
